Works really well

"Works really well. Had to buy 2 extensions as our door is large but only needed one in the end. Our doors are double sliding. We live in the tropics so they are mostly open all day and closed in the evenings. We can leave the Doggy door on the track and it will gently slide across to open or close. There are no wheels but its light so moves easily (once your gentle). Its perfect for a balcony. Dog loves it, he got used to it quickly and has no issues going in or out at night. No bugs and we've had the AC on in the evenings and no drafts. Happy with purchase."

Good, but…

"The unit fits just OK with my existing Andersen sliding unit frame on the sliding screen track. Once the sliding screen closes up against the Hakuma screen, the seal is inadequate since the supplied gasket is too shallow so it doesn’t fully account for any differences along the height. The adjustability part of the screen, although smart for adapting at different heights, makes the entire assembly flimsy and every time my dog goes through it needs to be readjusted. Adding height trims for taller dogs further adds to weaken the assembly. Also, the vinyl flap has a bow to it that allows air and insects in. I imagine these units are stored laying down which makes the vinyl bend by gravity. Not sure it will ever straighten up, it’s been a week I installed it and it’s still like day 1. I’m not happy but it was the best solution out there and I appreciate the thought that’s gone behind it. I will now make a custom piece using the knowledge I gathered using this unit."

"The Mesh Patio Pet Door is easy to install and remove as needed. It's great that it now comes with the clear weather resistant panels included. Its much warmer in winter and I'm looking forward to a fly 🪰 free summer. My two 14yo collies are quickly getting used to it although they still wake me early to let them out. 🤔 Whether its out of habit or to make me get up I'm yet to determine."

Mesh patio pet door L - HUMAN INJURY

"I bought the large mesh door for my Australian Shepherd because we have a rental. 1. Not a standard door size, we had to buy an extension for the top and bottom. You'll notice in most of the ads that they don't show the top of the door (to give the illusion that you only need the one door panel and no extras). 2. Large size is just big enough for Aussie Shepherd and he still has to bend down and army crawl through the door, so had to buy bottom extension so he can comfortably go through without crawling under. You'll notice in most of their ads that they mostly show small dogs using the product. 3. Door flap is very stiff, so he has to really push through and goes diagonal to get through the bottom corner of the flap that lifts. You'll actually notice all the dogs in the ads do this! 4. Needs the heavy door to keep it in place which means you have to take it off to close your door and then put it back in for use. 5. Injury-When removing the door, the top panel which is quite heavy, slid down very fast and crushed my partner's thumb like a guillotine. We are now having to take him to the doctor and get x-rays because he is in so much pain that it may be broken. 6. Obviously it's not secure so if you are worried about a break in, be wary of this feature. Isn't a problem for me but may be for others, especially if you have to put more money in to buy their "security features" 7. It's convenient that I don't have to get up and let my dog in/out all the time and it stops insects from getting in the house. It's also relatively easy to install. It's inconvenient and a money sink in every other aspect."

Overall, the Mesh Patio Pet

"Overall, the Mesh Patio Pet Door (V2) size S does exactly what I wanted it to do - I no longer have to play doorman for my cat, Bruce. Once installed, it works well, and Bruce (a fairly large 7 kg cat) uses it without any issues. That said, getting to that point wasn't entirely straightforward. The first issue was ordering the correct extensions. My sliding door is 265 cm tall, which requires either two top extensions or one top and one bottom extension. Unfortunately, the configurator allowed me to proceed with only a single top extension, even though that wasn't enough. I eventually had to order an additional bottom extension. Installation also took more work than expected. The door's mounting slot is 3 mm wide, but this specification isn't advertised anywhere. My door rail is 5 mm wide, so the pet door wouldn't fit. I ended up spending about an hour widening the slot with a flat metal file before I could install it securely. There were also a few design details around the extensions that felt unfinished. For example, the extensions come with countersunk screws, but the screw holes themselves aren't countersunk. The bottom extension also has a different side profile from the main door and relies on an included adhesive strip to create a seal. Interestingly, the bottom extension has a 7 mm mounting slot, which would have solved my rail-width problem from the start. However, I only discovered this after I was done with widening the slot. To eliminate the remaining wobble, I added a small strip of foam double-sided tape, which worked well. One useful tip that I couldn't find documented anywhere: the bottom extension can also be installed as a top extension. I tested both configurations because I wasn't sure whether Bruce would struggle with the higher step if the bottom extension was used at the bottom (standard configuration). He was able to use the door in both setups, but the standard configuration was more intuitive for him. If you have a sliding door like mine, I'd recommend ordering the bottom extension from the outset. It accommodates wider rails, and if the step is too high, it can also be used as a top extension instead. Despite the installation challenges, the finished product works well and has made day-to-day life much more convenient. I just think the configurator and product documentation could be improved to save customers from trial and error."
